SR Webatex fabric hitches a ride with the new FR11 race car manufactured by the Elefant Racing Team of Bayreuth University. Due to its high resilience yet extreme lightness, our fabric - as the outer skin - fits best on the new FR11’s steel frame.

As a sponsor of the student research project Elefant Racing, which has a long successful history, SR Webatex invests in the future of the region of Upper Franconia. The team Elefant Racing of Bayreuth University annually takes part in the international racing series SAE for interdisciplinary student motorsport teams.

The aim of the SAE competition is to construct and build a racing car and  to eventually compete in the race. In addition to expertise in car racing, the project develops team competencies as well as knowledge about project management processes.

This year, the team takes up the challenge to build a racing car with an electrical engine and a textile coated steel frame. Due to the high demands in terms of tensioning capabilities, abrasion resistance and handling of cleaning, our fabric is the perfect material for the new FR11.

The innovative power and performance of the FR11 will be tested in the SAE races in Hockenheim (August) and Turino (September). The launch of the new FR11 is planned for May 2011.
